Assumption Parish School of Religion (PSR)

The Assumption Parish Office of Religious Education offers a variety of programs to assist parent in bringing their children to a spiritually mature understanding and practice of their faith.

Grade 1 PSR	First-graders registered for Grade 1 PSR meet on Monday evenings from 7-8:15 PM. Students who plan to receive First Communion at Assumption in grade 2 must complete Grade 1 PSR at Assumption.
Grade 2 Sacramental Preparation	Second-graders preparing for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion must be enrolled in our traditional PSR programs for grades 1 and 2. During grade 2, students and their parents participate in 6 parent / child sessions to prepare for Reconciliation and 6 parent / child sessions to prepare to receive First Communion. We use the Growing Up Catholic program for sacramental preparation.
Grades 3 - 5 PSR	Parents with children in grades 3 through 5 may enroll their children in traditional PSR classes. Students meet on Monday evenings from 7 - 8:15 PM in the school.
Middle School PSR	Students in grade 6 and 7 have a special Middle School PSR format at Assumption. Students meet in a large group to begin each class session with a prayer and an introduction to the week's topic. They then break into group of 6 to 8 students with an adult leader for a more personalized and dynamic instruction in faith.
Eighth-Graders	The who wish to receive the sacrament of Confirmation should be enrolled in our Confirmation Formation Program. This class meets on Monday nights from 7 - 8:15 PM from September through May. Preparation begins with a family interview conducted by a member of our religious staff. Students also attend 3 scheduled meetings with their sponsors during the second semester.
High School Faith Group	This program is for our high school students and meets twice a month on Sundays 1t 6:00 PM. Students explore their Catholic faith in relation to what is happening in the world and in their lives. There is no fee for this program, but regular attendance is expected. AYM High	The Assumption Youth Ministry program is also for high school students of the parish. The chief focus is on the Youth Renewal each year in February. Students host a Youth Renewal weekend, attend concerts and hold lock-ins. The teens also commit to become involved in various parish ministries.
